Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2019
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/5/2019
Each puck originally distributed by Hockey Diversified could be obtained by mail with the buyer’s choice of team and possibly player. A label was affixed to each puck listing the scorer, team and date, along with a code that divulged which team-goal said puck accounted for. This particular puck was used by Hall of Fame member Phil Esposito to score the Boston Bruins 287th goal of the season vs the St Louis Blues, at St Louis Arena, on March 6, 1974. Assisted by Wayne Cashman and Ken Hodge, it was the Sault Ste. Marie native’s 56th goal of the season and 454th of his especially impressive 717 career goals. The first goal of the contest and the game winner - scored at 5:09 of the opening period, the Bruins would add an additional seven markers, with Espo contributing a second goal along with a pair of assists for four points during the 8-0 routing. The Goal Puck Program label and rubberized Blues logo both remain fairly clean, with an edge gouge on the team logo side.
