Originating from a desire for a more challenging competition for the Soviets who were dominating the international hockey scene, the Summit Series allowed Canada to showcase their greatest homegrown talent for the first time, with the ensuing clash of hockey powerhouses still venerated as the greatest international series in history. We have a wonderful collection of important Summit Series material. Included, we have a t-shirt signed 33 Team Canada members including Dryden, Henderson, Tretiak and others, a 1972 Canada-Russia commemorative silver coin in it’s original case plus a copper coin, 5 items signed by Henderson including a trio of books, a cap and mug, 3 books signed by Harry Sinden, Team Canada 1972 20th anniversary unopened card box signed by Henderson & Cournoyer, a Team Canada ’72 VHS tape signed by 12, a framed display with signed cards (2) and photo of Alexander Yakushev and more!
The t-shirt has been signed by 33 in black marker including the aforementioned players along with White, Clark, Mikita, Park, Perreault, Cournoyer, Dionne, Savard, Mahovlich Bros, Lapointe, Ferguson, Bergman, Cashman, Esposito Bros, Gilbert, Martin, Seiling and others, as well as an additional 3 Russians players, with the signatures displaying beautifully. The framed display is approx 17” x 24”, with a signed 8” x 10” photo along with a pair of mounted signed cards, with just moderate wear to the frame. This is followed by the signed Henderson items, with the cap signed in thin silver over the brim, with the three signed books to include The Days Canada Stood Still, Shooting For Glory and The Fans Go Wild, with the dark ink signatures displaying well and just moderate wear to the dust jacket of The Fans Go Wild. The VHS tape features 12 thin gold signatures including Tretiak, Cournoyer, White, Ellis, Dionne, Lapointe, Johnston, Henderson, Perreault, the Mahovlich brothers and Hull, with wear to the VHS case itself. The Sinden books are all matching copies of Hockey Showdown, with a paperback copy, soft cover copy and hard cover copy, with each signed in black felt tip pen. Rounding out the lot, the 1972 silver coin shows wear over both sides including some spotting and oxidation, with light wear to the original case.
