Extremely popular throughout the 1960’s right up until the present day, bobble heads have been made representing a number of themes, with examples portraying sports the most desirable. This lot contains an instant collection of all 6 Original Six dolls constituting a complete set, with examples present for Boston, Chicago, Montreal, Detroit, New York and Toronto. Standing at approx. 6 ½” in height, each sports “Japan” stamps or decals along the underside of the base, with the Montreal, New York and Toronto dolls also having “1962”. Rarely found assembled as a complete set, especially considering the scarcity of the Bruins doll, this collection is ready for prominent display.
Regarding condition, the Black Hawks doll features crazing to the painted surface over both the front and reverse of the uniform, with just a tiny bit of surface loss along with a small crack on the underside of the head, with this not noticeable upon regular display. There are also a few small white marks on the base. The Rangers doll has surface wear on the underside of the head along with a few small cracks, with a larger example that run up to the player’s right ear. There is also some additional surface loss and cracking over the head, with this repaired, with some chipping over a corner of the base along with the bottom center pushed in. Next, the rare Bruins doll is in gorgeous condition, with just a bit of wear to the opening edge at the bottom of the head, along with a minor blemish to the back of the head. The Montreal doll has a bit of wear to the front right corner of the base, with a bit of chipping/surface loss over a small area of the head. The opening at the underside of the head also shows wear, with a small section pushed in, along with a bit of chipping, surface loss and a small crack that runs slightly up the back of the head. Rounding out the lot, the Toronto doll displays beautifully, with a small chip over the player’s left glove and a bit of wear to the underside of the head. Lastly, the Detroit doll has a bit of dirt staining over the head and a few small chips to the base, with wear to the underside of the head and a crack that runs from the base for a half inch beneath the right cheek. There are also a few other small hairline cracks that run from the base.
