Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2019
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/5/2019
A four-time Olympian and two-time Olympic gold medalist, Martin Brodeur helped Team Canada secure gold in both 2002 and 2010. We have a mask made to replicate the design worn by the superstar netminder at the 1998 Olympic Games, in Nagano. Painted by noted mask artist Marlene Ross, with her two decades of service to the hockey community including examples painted for Roberto Luongo, Curtis Joseph, Marc-Andre Fleury and others, a Hockey Canada logo sits over the forehead, engrossed by bright flames over the chin section and each side. There are also Olympic rings, with “Nagano 1998” on one lower side, and “Cortina d’Ampezzo 1956” (the year his father played in net for Canada) on the other. The back plate, interior padding and strapping are all intact, with Marlene adding her signature on the lower left side beneath the ear.
The mask displays wonderfully, with just light wear present in spots from handling.
