Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2019
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/5/2019
Defeated in a mere seventeen contests during the regular season, the Toronto Maple Leafs would play their first season in the newly constructed Maple Leaf Gardens in 1931-32, with Busher Jackson leading the squad with 53 points scored in just 48 regular-season games. The Black Hawks and Maroons would be beaten in the playoffs, with the Leafs then taking out the Rangers in a hard-fought three-game final to claim their first Stanley Cup championship since being christened the “Maple Leafs”. We have a gorgeous colourized and framed panorama photo of the 1931-32 team. At 9” x 18” and with individual photos of Clancy, Horner, Day, Bailey, Conacher, Primeau, Jackson and others all depicted in their royal blue wools, each team member is listed at the base, along with “World’s Champions”, with the wonderful display framed to full dimensions of 19” x 28”.
A few minor surface wrinkles and creases are to note – including over the composite image of coach and HOFer Dick Irvin, with a few other light blemishes present along with toning.
