The Bambino. The Big Bam. The Babe. Baseball has never known a star greater than George Herman Ruth, the one and only Sultan of Swat, who epitomizes the America of the Roaring ‘20s. This huge and spectacular rendition of Babe Ruth autographing a baseball in his New York Yankees pinstripes surrounded by an adoring throng of young fans is a distinctive mid-1970s naïve art interpretation of the formidable slugger at the peak of his fame. This oil painting on canvas displays an image that measures 24” x 36 1/2" and features vivid colors. It is signed and dated “4/75” (April 1975) by artist Helen Fahey, whose name and address are on a sticker affixed to the rear of the substantial wood frame.
