Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2019
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/5/2019
The earliest headgear employed by hockey players, leather helmets made their debut during the earlier part of the century, with many makers producing the protective equipment by the 1940s. We have a desirable model from the era for your consideration, with this example made by notable Canadian producer D&R. An adult-size eight-spoke model, the strapping remains intact, with a cloth label affixed to the interior and a silver stamp over the front forehead section. Surviving in beautiful condition and exhibiting just light use, the interior padding remains fairly clean, with just light wear including a bit of minor rubbing to the leather in spots.
