Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Spring 2019
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/18/2019
Featuring cards that contained the player's name and position (bilingual text) in a hockey puck on the lower right front, unlike the Topps set of this year, this standard-size 396-card set was not issued with a black scratch-off covering. We have a desirable 1980-81 O-Pee-Chee hockey card wax box with 48 unopened wax packs. Featuring a 20 cent price on the box top and with 10 cards per pack, 480 high-grade cards are possible, including Wayne Gretzky’s sophomore release (6 total Gretzky cards are available in the set), along with the rookie cards of Mike Gartner, Ray Bourque and Mark Messier. With a single piece of clear tape visible over the top, the box has been been shrink-wrapped, with BBCE’s sticker (A4353) and label affixed to the underside.
There is some surface wear to the lid, with a tear at the top perforation that runs for about 1 ½” down the back of the box. Each top and bottom corner also shows moderate wear with a bit of colour loss to a few.
