With Pittsburgh teammate Rick Tocchet named as his replacement, Mario Lemieux was unable to compete at the 1993 NHL All-Star Game due to his illness with Hodgkin's disease. The superstar did accept an invitation from Commissioner Gary Bettman to watch the contest as a spectator, with Scotty Bowman presenting Lemieux with an All-Star jersey at center ice. We have a 1993 NHL All-Star Game Mario Lemieux Wales Conference jersey, with this pro replica believed to be from the "NHL All-Star Fantasy Pack McDonald's/Upper Deck" promotion which ended in April 1994, with "CCM official authentic jerseys" from players selected for the 1993 and 1994 All-Star Games given as prizes.
Center Ice and Maska labels grace the collar along with a size “52” fly tag, with embroidered NHL, NHLPA and CCM crests over the reverse hem. Styled with a large NHL shield crest, “66” appears over the sleeves and verso in layered tackle twill, with affixed black stars over the lower front and reverse. The Stanley Cup centennial patch resides over the right breast, with the 1993 All-Star Game crest placed over the right shoulder. There are a few marks over the lower front, with a bit of light staining over the upper right sleeve.
