The 37th best-on-best showcase of NHL talent, the 1985 All-Star Game took place in Calgary on Feb 12th, with the Wales Conference defeating the Campbell, 6–4. We have a Campbell Conference jersey that was issued to Tony McKegney. Unable to compete in the prestigious contest due to injury, McKegney was replaced by Steve Payne. A partially detached CCM label with handwritten “54” sizing sits along the collar atop a born-on date tag of “85 01”, with an embroidered CCM* crest over the reverse hem. Styled with “Campbell” placed diagonally across the chest in drop-shadow tackle twill, the V-neck sweater has been accented with dual-colour sleeve and verso numbers in matching material, with differing NHL shield crests over each shoulder. Single black twill stars have also been placed evenly across the lower front/reverse as well as over each upper sleeve.
Issued and not worn in the All-Star Game, the jersey does show wear – including marks, pilling and paint transfer - with this occurring from usage sometime after. There are also a few small staple holes visible in a few spots including the sleeves, with the jersey at one time mounted.
