Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2019
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/5/2019
After spending the latter half of the 1950s with the Boston Bruins, Don Simmons would then see the 1961-62 and 1962-63 seasons split between the Maple Leafs and Rochester in the AHL, with 21 games played for Toronto in 1963-64. We have an early-1960s stick made for Johnny Bower, but not possessing his tape job and with the stick originating from the personal collection of Simmons, we believe the stick was used by Simmons circa 1963-64. A CCM Pattern Made Custom stick with “Bower” stamped over the upper shaft, black tape remains on the blade, paddle and knob. There is some cracking that runs from the handle completely through the paddle, with this appearing to continue right down the length of the blade, with the cracks noticeable at the toe. There are also some stains visible throughout the length of the handle. Despite the condition issues, the stick displays well. An LOA from the Simmons family will accompany.
