Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Spring 2019
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/18/2019
A member of three winning Allan Cup championship squads in 1925, 1926 and 1929, all with his hometown Port Arthur Bearcats, Gordon “Phat” Wilson is regarded as one of the top amateur players of the era, winning scoring titles despite being a defenceman. We have a signed index card from the legendary star, encapsulated and certified authentic by PSA/DNA. At 3” x 5”, typed text of “Wilson, Gordon A. Phat” appears at the top left, along with the handwritten date of “Oct 13/1969” over the top right. Wilson has signed in blue ballpoint, adding his "Phat” nickname in brackets beneath, with “Best of Luck” written above. The signature remains dark and displays well with no issues, with just light wear over the front of the card, along with some minor glue residue and paper loss over the reverse, as well as “Oct 16 ‘69” typed within the bottom right corner. Wilson would see enshrinement within the Hall of Fame in 1963, passing in 1970.
