Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Spring 2019
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/18/2019
Having just concluded their 93rd season in the NHL, the Chicago Black Hawks were originally formed with the players purchased from the single-season Portland Rosebuds, with legendary HOFer Dick Irvin the club’s first captain. We have a collection of Hawks pennants totaling 6 from the 1960s/70s. All in the full-size 30” range give or take, first, we have a desirable mid-1960s roster pennant, made to celebrate Chicago’s first place finish during the 1966-67 NHL regular season, where they suffered only 17 loses. Featuring great graphics with an image of Bobby Hull, the player’s are listed in a banner over the left. Without tassels as issued, there are a few pinholes, with wear over the tip and along the left border. Next, we have a Tony Esposito player pennant from circa-1970, with a well depicted image of the HOF netminder. Without tassels as issued, there is just some light wear over the left border. The remaining four pennants are all similar in style from the early-1970s, with team name on right, and an Indian head team logo over the left. One is solid white with no tassels as issued, with a few pinholes and heavy edge toning, while the second is in solid red, with staining, creases and pinholes, along with glue residue over the reverse. The final two are in solid black with matching graphics and intact red tassels, with just the Indian head feather colours differing. One has a “1970 NHL Services” copyright logo over the bottom left, along with light wear to the left hand border, while the second simply sports “NHL Services”, with wear to the tassels, pinholes, and toning to the left hand border.
