Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2019

The New York Islanders quickly built from the worst team in the NHL in their 1972-73 expansion season to a hotbed of young talent within a few years. Garry Howatt’s mid-1970s New York Islanders 10-karat gold ring epitomizes the pride with which it was worn, many of them by the players who fashioned a comeback from a 3-0 series deficit to win four straight in their 1975 quarter-final against Pittsburgh, and nearly accomplished the same feat in the next round against Philadelphia before losing Game 7. The ring featuring a gold-colored Islanders logo on a blue stone on the tableau weighs approximately 20 grams. “Jostens 10K” is stamped inside the size 8 1/2 band. Comes with Garry Howatt’s signed LOA.
“New York Islanders N.H.L.” is spelled out on the bezel surrounding the tableau. Each shank features a hockey player with a banner and Howatt’s No. 8, with “Howie” on the left shank, and “Left Wing” on the right shank.
Wonderfully preserved with strond details and proud wear in the form of light scratches and a few small nicks to the back of the band.
