Saying farewell to The Great One, we have a collection of items from the final season of the iconic career of Wayne Gretzky, including programs, newspapers and a final game cap. First, we have a pair of Ottawa Senators program from Wayne’s 2nd last game and final road contest, on April 15, 1999 (a 2-2 tie), followed by four programs from his final game which was played against Pittsburgh at Madison Square Garden, on April 18 (won by the Pens 2-1 in OT). The four programs include pairs with different covers, with three of the four limited-edition Gretzky inserts present. Next, we have the final game cap, made by Pro Player with an NHL label, with “99” over the front and the date along with “NYR” embroidered over the reverse. The newspapers include five different issues of The Hockey News from the 1998-99 season – with each profiling Wayne, including the final game/career recap issues (April 30th and May 7th), along with an additional sixteen newspapers from his final season that either picture Gretzky or have articles (mostly NY papers including The New York Daily News, The New York Times and others). The programs all remain in beautiful like-new condition with just the lightest of handling wear, with the papers also showing just light storage/handling wear.
