Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Spring 2019

Setting the modern-era record for shutouts in a single season with 15, Tony Esposito achieved the feat during his first season with the Black Hawks in 1969-70, which helped him earn the Calder Memorial as the NHL’s top rookie. We have a stick used by the HOFer during the early-1980s, with this Northland Registered Pattern model sporting the pattern number on the underside, with the original black tape over the blade and paddle, and the tape now missing from the knob. “Esposito” is stamped over the upper shaft and “35” is handwritten in red marker, with heavy use exhibited including cracks, chips and edge loss to the paddle, with a good portion of the blade broken off and missing (approx 4”). Despite the damage and heavy wear, the stick displays admirably, and is the perfect example for showing prolonged use by an NHL backstop.
