A member of six Stanley Cup championships in only eleven full seasons, Jacques Laperriere also appeared in five NHL All-Star Games, with the James Norris Trophy earned as the league’s premiere defenceman in 1966. We have a team-signed stick used by the HOFer in 1963-64, when he was crowned the top rookie in the NHL. A CCM Pattern Made Custom Pro model, “Laperriere” and “2” are stamped over the upper shaft, with the stick retaining the original black tape on the blade and white-over-black on the knob. Light use is exhibited, with a crack visible that begins at the tip of the blade and runs under the tape. Approx. fifteen have signed in ballpoint, with four or five signatures considerably light. Signers include Laperriere, along with Richard, Blake, Hodge, Berenson, Ferguson and others.
As mentioned, the stick exhibits light use, with a few marks to the lower shaft along with paint transfer. The additional signers include Rousseau, Provost, Backstrom, Tremblay, Hicke, Harper, Talbot and a few others. We should also note the signature of Bryan Watson, with the possibility of the stick originating from the Stanley Cup-winning season of 1964-65, as Watson was still with the Habs for five games that season.
