Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Spring 2019
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/18/2019
A mixed bag of desirable vintage items, we have a neat grouping that includes pennants for both baseball and hockey (25) along with a not-often-offered Batman example from 1966, tin table-top hockey players (36 - a complete Original Six set), and a Dad’s Cookies near-set (1970-71 - 132 of the 144 cards present). First, the tin players were most likely produced by Eagle Toys, with all 30 present to constitute a full Original Six set, with four players and a goaltender for each club. Light wear is present on the grouping, with the majority just exhibiting the odd scratches or small area of surface wear. This is followed by the pennants, with the majority from the 1970s/80s in the 29 ½” range, with 19 for hockey including a pair of soft-felt examples from the late-1960s (Pittsburgh and Chicago), along with Atlanta, Hartford, Colorado (Rockies), Winnipeg, Calgary, Montreal, St Louis, Boston, Washington, Quebec, New Jersey (green and red team colours) and a few others. The baseball pennants include examples for Los Angeles, Boston, Houston, Baltimore, Toronto and Milwaukee. The majority show heavy wear, with toning, creasing, torn/worn tips and wear to the graphics. The Batman pennant is 26” in length, with a torn away tip, and heavy toning and wear with numerous creases. The Dad’s Cookies near-set includes 132 cards, with examples present for Orr, Howe, Perreault, Plante, Richard, Hull, Beliveau, Bucyk, Mikita and others. There doesn’t appear to be any duplication, with the condition nice across the board, with pleasing eye appeal and lower technical grades, with some corner dings and surface wear present to some cards along with toning. As an added bonus, there is also a 1980s Gerry Cosby box included (9” x 7 ½” x 4”), with sporting graphics along with the famous supplier’s Madison Square Garden address, with a mailing label on the underside and moderate to heavy wear to the box itself.
