Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Spring 2019

Hockey’s most successful club during the first quarter of the 20th century, we have a pair of Ottawa Auditorium programs from the Roaring ‘20s, both featuring Ottawa Senators contests. The first desirable ephemera hails from the 1927-28 NHL season, where the Senators defeated the New York Americans 4-1 on Dec 15th, with seven HOFers featured in the starting line-ups including Bullet Joe Simpson, Billy Burch, King Clancy and Frank Nighbor. Given to patrons free of charge, the program contains an attractive 1926-27 Sens team photo, as well as the club’s full schedule and an ad for Coca-Cola. The second example originates from a Dec 23rd contest during the 1926-27 campaign, where the Senators shut out the inaugural-season New York Rangers 1-0, with eleven of the twelve starting players HOFers! Featuring an ad for legendary Senators stick maker H.A. Proulx, there are also portrait images of Alec Connell, King Clancy and Hooley Smith.
Exhibiting a vertical fold line/crease that runs through its entirety – common for programs from the era - the 1927-28 14-page booklet sports a few minor creases to the interior pages along with general toning. The 1926-27 program survives admirably, with the diminutive keepsake exhibiting creasing and toning, with a small tear along the bottom of the spine.
