Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Spring 2019
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/18/2019
Originally sold through the Hockey Diversified NHL Goal Puck Program that offered game-used examples from 1972-73 and 1973-74, a label was affixed to each listing the scorer, team and date, along with a code that divulged which team-goal said puck accounted for. This particular puck was used by John Stewart to score the Atlanta Flames 92nd goal of the 1972-73 season vs the New York Rangers, at MSG, on Dec 21 1972. The match would see the Flames down the strong Rangers on the road, 5-2. The 1972-73 season would be Stewart’s first in Atlanta, with time later spent in the WHA with Cleveland, Birmingham and Minnesota. The Rangers rubberized logo is quite dark, with a number of blemishes and dark marks to the Goal Puck Program label. The puck itself exhibits wear and dirt.
