Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Spring 2019
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/18/2019
Originally sold through the Hockey Diversified NHL Goal Puck Program that offered game-used examples from 1972-73 and 1973-74, a label was affixed to each listing the scorer, team and date, along with a code that divulged which team-goal said puck accounted for. This particular puck was used by Pat Stapleton to score the Chicago Black Hawks 173rd goal of the 1972-73 season vs the Pittsburgh Penguins, at Chicago Stadium, on Jan 21, 1973. The Penguins would be no match for Chicago on this particular evening, with the high-scoring affair ending 9-3 for the Black Hawks at home. Stapleton was in his final NHL season in 1972-73, with 31 points scored in his 75 games played. The Black Hawks rubberized logo is quite dark, with the Goal Puck Program label especially dark, with a number of marks present. There are also a few small edge chips, with a slice that runs across the puck near the team logo.
