Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2019
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/5/2019
From the only season the New York Golden Blades played in the WHA in 1973-74, we have a Blades jersey worn by Bob "Butch" Barber, who appeared in only 3 contests. Produced by noted maker Cosby, the complete set of Blades uniforms were sold to Verona Sports when the club left NY and went to New Jersey to become the Knights. The jerseys were then stripped of their Cosby labeling and replaced with Verona Sports tags, and were used by their hockey team for many years before they began to be purchased by collectors. Currently void of either labeling, the durene jersey measures-out to a size “54”. Styled with a lightning bolt-blade team crest fully administered in tackle twill, the V-neck sweater has been accented with “28” over the sleeves and verso in dual-colour tackle twill. No nameplate is present, but the silhouette of “Barber” can been seen in the interior, arching over the upper reverse.
A few dark marks are visible over the lower front and sleeves, with the front collar torn and repaired. Additional repairs are present over the lower right sleeve, left elbow and upper reverse. There is also a pair of holes, near the right elbow and beneath the team crest.
