Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2019
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/5/2019
A WHA regular for the first six of the league’s eight seasons, Bob Liddington would witness a trio of seasons in The Windy City with the Cougars from 1972 to 1975, with single campaigns spent in Denver, Houston and Phoenix. From just the second season of WHA hockey, we have a Chicago Cougars jersey that was worn by Liddington, in 1973-74. A partially detached Wilson label with “46” sizing graces the collar, with a chain-stitched “73” year swatch affixed over the inside hem. Featuring a solid green tackle twill team crest with chain-stitched yellow cougar, “7” appears over the left breast, sleeves and verso in matching material, with “Liddington” in green heat-pressed vinyl letters over the affixed nameplate. A garter-style fight strap has also been utilized, and we should note evidence of a former nameplate.
Surviving in gorgeous condition with rich and vibrant colours, a few marks and material pulls are visible, with a long and thin vertical repair beneath the team crest. There is also pilling over the inner sleeves, a few small stains over the lower reverse and team repairs over the reverse collar, near the left elbow and at each top corner of the upper reverse.
