Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Spring 2019
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/18/2019
The five most important components of the ultra-exciting and prolific Edmonton Oilers teams of the 1980s star in this all-O-Pee-Chee, all-PSA-encapsulated ensemble and are led by the most prolific hockey player of all-time, Wayne Gretzky. A 1979-80 Gretzky rookie card is off-centered, exhibits light to moderate creasing and received a mark of GOOD 2, while five Mark Messier RCs from '80-81 include one at NM 7, two at EX 5 and two at VG-EX 4. Grant Fuhr and Paul Coffey rookies earned NM 7 recognition, with an additional Coffey slabbed EX 5. The non-RC lineup completes and features four cards; '80-81 #87-Gretzky All-Star (NM 7), '81-82 106-Gretzky (EX-MT 6 (OC)), '81-82 118-Messier (EX 5) and '82-83 111-Jari Kurri (NM 7). The thought of Wayne and friends and their potent offense are provoked by this intriguing stash. All PSA holders of the rookie cards, except for the two housing the Coffey RCs, are the most recent PSA variety and like-new, with no scratches/issues observed on the others - they've all been well taken care of.
