Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Spring 2019
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/18/2019
One of hockey’s early rock hard defenceman – along with Sprague Cleghorn and Billy Coutu – Eddie Shore was known for his rough play and penchant for violence, with the adage of “they certainly don’t make them like that anymore” especially apt. One of the nicer signed pucks from a pre-Original Six era Hall of Fame member that we’ve ever handled, and a prize in it’s own right to vintage puck collectors, this desirable vintage 1940s Official CCM example feature’s a rubberized logo, along with the sharper edges and smooth sides associated with pre-Art Ross pucks. Shore has added an attractive thin white signature in his familiar script just over the logo, adding the date beneath of “Sept 27/41”. Shore would pass at 82, in 1985. With early signed pucks from HOFers hard to locate, this high-grade specimen will serve as the centerpiece in any vintage signed puck collection. An LOA from PSA/DNA will accompany.
