Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2019
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/26/2019
Each puck originally distributed by Hockey Diversified for the 1972-74 NHL Goal Puck Program could be obtained by mail with the buyer's choice of team and possibly player. A label was affixed to each puck listing the scorer, team and date, along with a code that divulged which team-goal said puck accounted for. We have a pair of signed 1972-73 pucks from the program, with these particular examples used by Guy Lapointe and Jacques Laperriere to score goals in the same contest for Montreal, vs the New York Islanders, on Jan 24th 1973. The Lapointe goal was scored at 12:24 of the 2nd period, assisted on by Mahovlich and Roberts, it served as the Habs 195th goal of the season. The Laperriere goal was scored at 19:52 of the 2nd, assisted on by Lapointe and Cournoyer, with this goal serving as the 197th of the season for the Canadiens. Montreal won the contest, 6-1.
With two points in the contest, the goal scored by Lapointe served as his 12th of the season, and 38th of his career. A blemish is present over the Canadiens logo, with heavy discolouration over the Goal Puck Program label, with a tiny bit of paper loss. Guy has signed over the label in black marker, with no issues for the signature and just light wear to the puck itself. The goal scored by Laperriere served as his 2nd of the season, and 33rd of his career. Dark marks/stains are visible over the Canadiens logo along with tape residue, with some discolouration and faint blemishes over the Goal Puck Program label. Jacques has signed over the label in black marker, with no issues for the signature and just light wear to the puck itself, including a few small edge cuts.
