Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Spring 2019
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/18/2019
For those with an appetite for food issues comes this group of goodies, led chronologically by octagon-shaped cards issued by the York company in the early-1960s. "Yellow backs" are from 1961-62 and total 17, with however condition not great; creases and/or back damage affect most, while an album from the same year is G, with 13 cards pasted-in, including Plante and Beliveau. Seven "white backs" from '63-64 are stained and creased, with no big names present. High grade condition is to report in one of two (144-card) ensembles of Dad's Cookie cards from '70-71, with white borders and sharp corners throughout. A second set has obvious edge toning affecting all, although crease-free cards abound. Three PSA-graded Dad's are Gump Worsley and Derek Sanderson at MINT 9 and Bernie Parent at NM-MT 8. Cards cut from the backs of (1974-75) Lipton Soup boxes include a few pleasing ones but rough cuts and creased cards outnumber the nicer examples. We count 40 different and four duplicates, with the missing numbers being 5, 6, 7-Vachon, 8-Orr, 14, 22, 29, 30, 39, 40-Gilbert and 41-Salming (horizontal). Nifty throw-ins are three (Howe, Orr, Esposito) '69-70 4-in-1 (separated) mini cards which were pasted and then removed, producing back damage.
