Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2019
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/26/2019
Baseball pin enthusiasts will have their interest piqued by this nifty assortment of PSA-encapsulated goodies, led chronologically by 1910-12 Sweet Caporal dime-size pins picturing Hall of Famers Ty Cobb and Zach Wheat. The former includes toning/staining helping to render it Good 2, while the latter came in at VG-EX 4. A Babe Ruth Baseball Club Member pin is from 1934 and is a Quaker Oats issue, with an EX 5 assessment. Three identical "No B on Cap" Ted Williams stadium pins (PM10) feature a nice shot of the Red Sox' legend, with all three earning a mark of NM-MT 8 (Pop 22, 3 higher). Two of the holders, it should be noted, appear to have multiple cracks, reducing eye-appeal, with just a light/single crack in the other. Colorful little 1932 Orbit Gum pins are numbered affairs and have renditions of Cubs' pitcher Burleigh Grimes (#26) and Yankees outfielder Ben Chapman (#99), with both graded EX 5. Completing the lot is a green-tinted quarter-size pin of Boston Red Sox' infielder Johnny Hodapp, its NM 7 PSA label also including "1933 PX3 Double Header". It's a Pop 2 with 3 higher.
