Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2019

Intriguing Babe Ruth collectible here is alluring in that "strip" cards from the Babe's era are more affordable compared to tobacco and candy cards, with Ruth one of ten baseball subjects featured in the 1926 W512 set. It's a 50-card effort, with non-sports/actor and actresses (20) and athletes from other sports (20) also included. Diamond stars include Hall of Famers Ruth, Ty Cobb, Tris Speaker, Rogers Hornsby, Grover Alexander, Frank Frisch, Dave Bancroft and Dazzy Vance, with boxers Jack Dempsey and Gene Tunney and golfer Walter Hagen also notable. The Ruth card offered was cut admirably, with even borders, and has not-too-detracting creasing which is much more visible on the reverse, where toning/staining are also observed. Slabbed "10 POOR 1" by SGC, it displays better and will be a welcome addition to a Babe Ruth collectibles shrine. The Babe smacked 47 homers and drove-in 146 runs in 1926, while batting .372.
We should note some minor residue along with a few scratches over both the front and reverse of the SGC holder.
