Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2019
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/26/2019
Named as the centerman to the NHL First All-Star Team as the league’s leading scorer in 1940, Milt Schmidt would be so honoured on three occasions, with All-Star Game appearances in 1947, 1948, 1951 and 1952. Originating from the collection of Mr. Schmidt and obtained directly from his family, we have a modern 1947 Roots All-Star Game leather jacket worn by Milt at the 2000 All-Star Game in Toronto, along with a matching framed display honouring the HOFer as an original All-Star Game participant. The “XXL” leather jacket has tagging within the collar, with chenille patches affixed to the front, reverse and sleeves, along with a crest over the inner left pocket with text that states, "Made especially for Milt Schmidt in honour of your participation in the 1947 NHL All-Star Game". The 18” x 28” display feature’s a centered photo of Milt along with added Bruins, Roots and “1947” patches, with the particulars listed over an inserted plaque along the base. An LOA from the Schmidt family will accompany.
The leather remains supple with just expected minor wear from use, with the affixed NHL, All-Star and Roots patches all clean and bright. The framed display shows wear to the wood along both the top section and over the right side.
