This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/26/2019
Featuring the most famous hockey team on earth, we have a wonderful collection of Montreal Canadiens lumber from the 1970s totaling 9, with a mix of game-used and issued sticks. We have game-used examples from Pete Mahovlich, Pierre Bouchard and Chuck Lefley, with issued sticks for J.C. Tremblay, Yvan Cournoyer, Jacques Laperriere (pattern stick), Guy Lapointe (pattern stick) and Claude Larose (pattern stick), along with a store model Serge Savard stick. The Mahovlich is a Sher-Wood model with name and number stamped-on, with additional stamps from “McNiece’s”. A date stamp of “10 Oct 1972” is visible over the underside, with the original tape over the handle and “Mahovlich” handwritten over the blade in marker. Heavy use is exhibited, with a ballpoint signature over the shaft. The Lefley stick is a Vic Pro model with name stamped and number handwritten, with the original white tape over the handle. Heavy use is exhibited. The Bouchard stick is a Canadien model with “26 Pierre Bouchard” factory graphics, with the original white tape over the knob. The blade tape has been removed, with thorough use exhibited and dirt staining to the shaft. The issued sticks for J.C. Tremblay, Yvan Cournoyer, Jacques Laperriere, Guy Lapointe and Claude Larose are all Victoriaville models (Cournoyer is a Sher-Wood), with each player’s name stamped over the upper shaft, with the pattern models having the player’s name handwritten in marker over the blade. Each stick shows age and storage wear, with most of the striping accents gone, with tape and a name tag added over the upper shaft on the Tremblay stick. Lastly, the Savard stick is a Canadian model with “Serge Savard” factory graphics, with wear to the identifiers along with some minor staining. We should also note a small mounting hole over the upper shaft on the Laperriere, Lapointe and Larose sticks.
