Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2019

“Illustrating romantic America” is how the Goudey Gum Company described its Indian Gum cards, with over five dozen, including 52 different, offered here. We see 29 as condition leaders at VG, with corner and edge wear the grade-lowering flaws and not creases. One of two VG cards of 25-Geronimo has a light crease, while a third is G, similar to ten others, including 38-Sitting Bull (2) and 60-Buffalo Bill. Still acceptable with a crease or creases, to go along with corner/edge wear are 19 (F) cards, with 33-Pocahontas and 52-Davy Crockett noteworthy. With more plentiful/severe creases and wear are half a dozen at P, including 70-Captain John Smith. Tossed onto the pile are two similar cards but with text in black on the back, where “Makers of OH BOY Gums” appears; 39-Trapped in their Ambush (G) and 93-Wolf Collar (F), along with a 61-Geronimo card (VG) from Topps’ 1956 Round-Up series.
