Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2019
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/26/2019
Hailing from a mid-summer tilt between the Montreal Expos and St Louis Cardinals at Jarry Park in 1971, we have a baseball signed by the country’s 15th Prime Minister, Pierre Elliot Trudeau. Appearing to be a cloth baseball somewhat smaller than the official MLB orbs, Spalding stampings are visible including those of then-NL President Charles Feeney, with the baseball encapsulated, with full dimensions of approx. 3” x 3” x 3”. The dark-ink signature appears within a panel and displays wonderfully, with a notation directly beneath the signature of “Jul. 24-71”. With just some general toning and light staining to the ball, there is also light wear including scratches to the lucite cube itself. A laminated 8 ½” x 11” modern copy of a photo taken that very evening showing Trudeau along with other dignitaries will be included.
