Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2019
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/26/2019
The Splendid Splinter, Ted Williams, leads the 1955 Topps lineup here, with card #2 a VG example, with a subtle, light half-inch crease in the Red Sox logo in the upper right corner, two upper edge notches and visible corner/edge wear. Al Kaline's second-year card is lesser, with notably a light side-to-side back crease and a scrape near the middle of the bottom edge resulting in a spec of paper loss. A Warren Spahn entry leads the star power condition-wise, at EX+, while fellow Hall of Famers are 24-Hal Newhouser (VG) and 100-Monte Irvin (VG). Among the rest, VG, VG+, VG-EX and EX cards show up most often, with some EX+ and EX-MTs to be discovered and VG-EX looking to be the average. Notables include 5-Gilliam (G), 25-Podres (EX), 38-Turley (VG) and 26-Groat (VG). Cards are numbered 2 to 154 and we spot approximately half with light even toning on the back.
