Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2019
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/26/2019
A good start to Parkhurst's second of back-to-back wrestling issues of the mid-1950s is offered here, with the majority of the cards showing light to moderate handling and wear and very little abuse. VG+ and VG-EX examples dominate, with an intermittent heavy crease showing up only occasionally and approximately one-third of the stack VG or lower. The card of Bronko Nagurski (#97) is crease-free and VG-EX, while a light crease and small border stain send 95-Gorgeous George to VG. The most notable lower grade exception is #1-Frank Valois, with a surface tear in the "1" in the upper right corner, along with paper loss front and back. A curvature to the cards is to mention, with this issue considered more difficult to track down than its 1954-55 predecessor, the latter being a 75-card set. The winning bidder will have a hoot checking out the likes of Primo Carnera, Argentina Rocco, Whipper Watson, Johnny Rougeau, Don Leo Jonathan, Little Beaver and other mat stars of the day.
