Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2019
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/26/2019
Sealed O-Pee-Chee factory sets here are from 1988-89 (264 cards) and ’89-90 (330), with the former led by the rookie cards of Brett Hull, Brendan Shanahan, Joe Nieuwendyk, Pierre Turgeon and Bob Probert, along with a card picturing Wayne Gretzky in a Los Angeles Kings uniform for the first time. Joe Sakic, Brian Leetch and Theoren Fleury rookies are notable in the ’89-90 offering. The ’87-88 factory set is not sealed, allowing a chance to examine the (264) cards, with no noteworthy unsightly flaws observed. Centering is not always bang-on, with upper borders at times wider than their lower counterparts, but nothing actually off-centered. We spot a spec in the right border of the Luc Robitaille rookie, with other RCs picturing the likes of Oates, Vernon, Ranford, Hextall, Tocchet, Damphousse and Claude Lemieux. Stars Gretzky, Lemieux and Roy also look to be NM-MT or better.
