Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction June 2018

Spectacular Canadian Football League souvenir is this circa 1970 Wilkinson presentation sword. The CFL logo is displayed on each side of the gold-colored handle. The Wilkinson logo that reads "By appointment of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, Sword Cutlers" and "Made in England" is engraved just below the hilt on one side of the blade, which displays the logos of all nine CFL teams. The other side of the blade has a "CFL 0079" stamp just below the hilt. Wonderfully preserved, the sword measures 34” in length. These swords were apparently presented around the 1970 season to the mayors of each of the nine CFL cities, amongst others, by Wilkinson Shaving Cream, the league sponsor at the time.
There are a few small nicks to the top portion of the gold-colored handle that also has a few clear cellophane tape remnants, none of which diminish this magnificent CFL presentation sword’s display.
