Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction June 2018
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/19/2018
Magnificent opportunity is a postcard signed by Cardinal Jose Bergoglio in 2006, seven years before he was elected Pope and took the papal name Francis. Provenance letter states that the signed postcard, which displays Pope Benedict XVI, is signed on the bottom right corner of the reverse by Cardinal Bergoglio, who was elected Pope Francis in March 2013. The letter states that “Cardinal Bergoglio signed this postcard in person at the occasion of the March 2006 Cardinal creating consistory on St. Peter’s Square in Rome.” Cardinal Bergoglio’s tiny and precise autograph measures about half an inch, or 12 millimeters, in length. “Bogoglio” is handwritten in pencil on the bottom left side of the reverse, and also in black on the upper left corner above Pope Benedict’s raised right hand on the front of the 6x4 postcard.
