Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction February 2018
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/27/2018
Fascinating relics launched hockey card collecting well over one hundred years ago and feature a few of our sport’s immortals. A major flaw or more affect most here, sending them to the P realm, however the card of the legendary Newsy Lalonde, the last in the set, is among the best at G, with 8-Riley Hern G+. Two dozen others have back damage, in the way of a triangular piece of tape or stain, or paper loss due to tape removal, affecting an upper corner. Four notables, (along with half a dozen others), however display well, with no unsightly creases; 1-Frank Patrick, 12-Art Ross, 23-Didier Pitre and 26-Lester Patrick (small upper left corner crease). Six appear to have had some color touch-ups in their blue backgrounds, including 8-Ross, 15-Cyclone, 20-Russell and 30-Johnson, while some measure narrow. The Joe Cattaranich card is plasticized. Low grade duplicates are #s 10, 23-Pitre and 31, while not present are 2-LeSueur, 11, 14-Dunderdale, 21-Laviolette and 28-Moran. Cool that all are rookie cards.
