Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction February 2018

A complete pre-war card set always garners interest and rightfully so, with this assembly of “Ice Kings” indeed featuring some of hockey’s all-time greats. Condition is on the lower end, with however the key Howie Morenz card in rather attractive crease-free VG shape, with rounded corners and edge wear the grade-lowering flaws. Similar is 59-Larry Aurie RC and then we deem a group of 20 close, with either a light crease and/or corner/edge wear rendering them G or G+, with a few commons making it to VG. Notables are 10-Day, 11-Worters RC, 27-Barry RC and 31-Smith. Most of the rest feature a heavy crease or multiple creases, along with enough corner/edge wear to send them to the P-F realm, but with no torn/damaged backs and an impressive rookie card lineup joining legends Clancy and Joliat. The RC contingent includes HOFers Clapper, Siebert, Stewart, Horner, Bailey, Primeau, Thompson, Weiland, Howe and the Cooks. Two English-only are low grade; 4-Blair and 7-Martin.
We spot just one card with a torn reverse; 23-Harry Oliver is missing a dime-size area on the lower back.
