Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction February 2018
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/27/2018
Interesting mix here includes some notoriously fragile collectibles, with a Montreal Canadiens bobbing head doll looking quite sharp, with bright colors and no cracks at the base of the head, as is often the case. We do spot a chip in the paint, on the outer lower edge of the head, below the right ear/cheek, but otherwise and overall, quite nice/impressive. Two delicate Post instructional “flip books” are intact and include No. 1 – Goaltending (Bower-Worsley) and No. 9 – Stickhandling (Armstrong-G. Tremblay), with the latter a little nicer than the partially-warped former. Two others are No. 7s – Wrist Shot (Pappin-Beliveau), but one has the Pappin cover detached, while the other is missing the Pappin cover, with the Beliveau cover written on and detached. A box of Shirriff jelly dessert powder advertises a free “hockey coin” inside and is from the challenging and highly-sought 1968-69 release. The box top is opened and the powder inside the bag has crusted-up, with no coin present, but it’s still intriguing to see how the coveted coins were issued. Five plastic hockey players include four red skaters and one blue goaltender and show very little handling and wear, except for one chewed hockey stick blade, with two plastic “nets” joining them. Completing is a rather rough 3-pound Bee Hive tin with not the original top.
