Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction February 2018
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/27/2018
It was a bittersweet night when the Montreal Canadiens retired Bernie “Boom Boom” Geoffrion’s No. 5 on March 11, 2006. Geoffrion died that morning in Atlanta but his family pressed on with the ceremony at Bell Centre as Boomer’s number was raised to the rafters to join his father-in-law Howie Morenz’s No. 7. This Geoffrion No. 5 Canadiens jersey was worn during the warm-up and emotional pre-game ceremony by Montreal forward Radek Bonk, whose jersey number “14” is handwritten in black marker in the back of the neck behind the size 58 flag tag. The Canadiens game-worn jersey patch sewn inside the tail has registry no. A02485, which corresponds to the accompanying Canadiens LOA.
The LOA signed by Canadiens equipment manager Pierre Gervais has a hologram sticker with a registry number that matches the one affixed to the bottom of the No. 5 on the back of the jersey.
