Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2017
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 3/8/2017
An American institution for over a century, the World Series has been contested since 1903, with American and National League clubs battling for world supremacy. We have an exceptional modern Fall Classic program run that totals 102 and begins in 1970, and continues without break right up until the 2016 affair that witnessed the Chicago Cubs garner their first championship since 1908. The majority of the programs all remain in gorgeous condition with just light handling wear, with only a few exceptions. The majority also remain un-scored. The complete breakdown is as follows; we have pairs, with most appearing to have an example for each venue, for 1970, 1971, 1972, 1973, 1975, 1976, 1977, 1978, 1979, 1982, 1983, 1988, 1989, 1990, 1991, 1992, 1994, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2009, 2015 and 2016, with single copies from 2007, 2008, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2012, 2013 and 2014. Years with three examples include 1974, 1980, 1981, 1984 (4 total copies), 1985, 1986, 1987, 1993, 1995, 1996, 1997, 1998, 1000, and 2000. The issues with condition problems include the pair from 1983 that both have damage to the back cover along the spine from being stored improperly, while examples from 2000 and 2014 both exhibit cover wear with creases present. As an added bonus, we also have a 2016 World Series yearbook, and it remains in beautiful condition.
