Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2017
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 3/8/2017
Baseball in the 1960s followed the previous decade, with the Yankees on top appearing in 5 World Series’, including back-to-back victories in 1961 and 1962, with the LA Dodgers and St Louis Cardinals picking up the slack, each appearing in three Fall Classics within the decade. Rarely offered in complete form, we have a World Series program run from the swinging ‘60s that spans from 1960 to 1969, with examples for each venue, from each year, along with World Series “phantom” program covers from 1962 (Dodgers vs Yankees), 1964 (Phillies) and 1967 (Twins vs Cardinals). The pair from 1960 feature a scored example for game 6, while all the remaining programs remain un-scored, except an example from 1966 partially scored, with “Game #2” handwritten. The majority of the publications remain in beautiful condition, exhibiting just expected handling wear. Exceptions include the game 6 example from 1960 (Pen notation on cover), 1961 (Yankee Stadium – wear to the spine and covers, with a small stain present), 1961 (Crosley Field – wear to the middle section of the spine on the reverse), 1962 (Yankee Stadium – bottom right corner crease, wear to top right), 1964 (Yankee Stadium – Surface and spine wear) and 1965 (Metropolitan Stadium – surface wear to the front and back covers, with creasing to the bottom right corner). The phantom covers remain in wonderful condition, with some surface wear and light creasing to the 1962 example.
