Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2017
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 3/8/2017
Their first return to World Series play after the infamous 1919 scandal twenty years earlier, the Cincinnati Reds would be meeting that high-powered machine from the Bronx that had just won the previous three Fall Classics, as some would note, with ease. The Series, not surprisingly, would go just the four required games, with the Reds only able to average a pair of runs in each contest. This would be the Yankees fourth consecutive World Series championship, and 8th in franchise history. We have a program for the Series hailing from Crosley Field, and it remains un-scored. At 8 ½” x 11 ½”, the substantial program features an image of Uncle Sam on the cover, with the tag line “His game for 100 years”. Complete including the line-ups with all pages firmly attached, the program exhibits just light handling wear with no major issues.
