Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2017
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 3/8/2017
A return match-up from the previous season, the 1937 World Series would see the Yankees taking on the Giants in yet another Subway Series, with almost an identical result. The Series would be settled in five, with the boys from Manhattan held to just a single run in three different games for a second consecutive Yankees Fall Classic championship. The streak would be kept alive, with New York winning the next two years for an impressive run of 4 straight World Series titles. We have an un-scored program for the Series hailing from either game 3 or 4, as evidenced by the handwritten listing of Hank Leiber who starting at center field in each of those contests. At just under 9” x 11”, the program remains complete, with tape along the reverse of each cover, along with a single edge tear to each. The spine also exhibits wear, with a notation along the upper right corner next to a clipped corner.
