Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2017

A charter member of the American league in 1901, the Detroit Tigers had formerly played in the Western League, which was the minor league predecessor to the American League. Despite winning consecutive pennants behind the legendary Ty Cobb from 1907-1909, the Tigers would only advance to their 5th Fall Classic championship in 1935. The Chicago Cubs had fared better than the Tigers, with their appearance in the 1935 World Series their 3rd in seven years. Going just six games, the Tigers would claim their first championship in franchise history. We have an unscored program for the Series, issued at Wrigley Field. Diminutive in size at 6” x 9 ¼”, an attractive image of Wrigley graces the back cover, with the program complete including the line-ups. The colours remain bright and vibrant on the cover, with some expected creasing along with spine wear. All pages including the covers remain tightly bound, with some light rusting to the staples.
