Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2017
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 3/8/2017
The first World Series jaunt without their long-time skipper John McGraw, the New York Giants would be led into battle by player-manager Bill Terry, with a showdown set for the 1933 Fall Classic with the Washington Senators. Despite being shut-out in the 3rd game by Earl Whitehill, the Giants would take the Series in 5 for their first championship in over a decade. We have an unscored program for the Series, hailing from Griffith Stadium. At just under 8” x 10 ½”, the thin publication features both managers on the cover, with Joe Cronin and Bill Terry. Surface wear is present along with some light creasing, with all pages firmly attached including the center line-up. Some toning to the interior is also present, along with some light rusting to the staples.
