Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2017
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 3/8/2017
A Memorial Cup winner with the Winnipeg Braves in 1959, netminder Ernie Wakely relieved an aging Glenn Hall, taking over duties for the St Louis Blues gatekeeper in 1969-70. Seasons would follow in both the NHL and WHA, with time spent in Winnipeg, Houston and Cincinnati. This Stingers jersey was worn by the Flin Flon native in 1977-78, his only season with the club where he saw action in 6 games. Russell “XL” sizing remain affixed to the collar, along with a label from Koch Sporting Goods in Ohio. Featuring a neat yellow and white stylized “C” team crest, the mesh V-neck has been completely adorned with rubberized sleeve and verso numbers and striping bands, with “Wakely” across the nameplate in single-layer tackle twill.
Worn for a short period of time, the jersey remains in gorgeous condition, with just some light wear to the rubberized identifiers which includes a blemish over the right sleeve’s number.
