St. Louis Blues goalie Patrick Lalime’s game-worn jersey with the Katrina Relief Fund patch on the right breast is from the Blues’ 2005-06 home opener. The NHL and the NHLPA stepped up to support relief efforts in the wake of the devastation caused by Hurricane Katrina just before the league and its players association returned from the lockout that scuttled the previous season. Lalime wore this jersey during the first period of St. Louis’ 4-3 loss to the Detroit Red Wings at Savvis Center on October 6, 2005. A “+2”” black marker notation is handwritten on the goalie style flag tag that sits in the back of the collar along with a size 58 flag tag. MeiGray patch sewn inside the rear tail is the “NHL Game-Worn Jersey 2004-2005 Season patch” from the unplayed previous season. The 2005-2006 MeiGray population report notes that this jersey, which has a mark on the Bluenote crest on the front, is a "Blue w/ Katrina Relief Patch - Worn in 1st Period of Home Opener on 10/6/05".
